“The Social Justice Summit is a student-run event. While we have an advisory committee of professors, students maintain ultimate control over the event’s organization and content.
Purpose Statement:The Social Justice Summit is a transformative platform that seeks to question and redefine societal narratives. It is dedicated to amplifying the voices and experiences of BIPOC, queer, disabled, and other intersectional communities, fostering a safe and empathetic space for meaningful dialogue.
This year’s theme, “Cultures Within Our Communities: The Advocacies We Stand For,” aims to celebrate the people and cultures within our school and community, shed light on important issues, and provide a platform for the voices of the communities we cherish.

Class-Action Lawsuit Against Congressional Representatives Jared Huffman and Mike Thompson
On December 19th, more than 500 taxpayers filed a class action lawsuit against Representatives Huffman and Thompson over voting in favor of military aid to Israel:
“The lawsuit charges that Rep. Huffman and Rep. Thompson illegally abused their Tax and Spend authority when they voted to allocate $26.38 billion in military aid to Israel on April 20, 2024. By doing so, the lawsuit alleges, they violated the U.S. Constitution, the United Nations’ Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, and U.S. federal laws.”
